Furniture flipping.
Who knew?
Most people know me as the customer service gal.
I've worked in the customer service and experience industry with tech startups for 18 years, from the call center front lines all the way up to director level management. I teach two Udemy for Business beginner customer service training courses, am on the Board of Directors for CX Accelerator and have spoken at global conferences like ICMI, Zendesk Relate and SupportDriven. Work was a major part of my identity.
Then I got laid off.
I faced a flood of job rejections—hundreds of them—which made me doubt my entire career. Finding work had always been easy for me until now.

I'm a creative person who loves crafts, writing songs, singing, and playing guitar. However, I often set aside these interests because I believed I wasn't good enough, and work always took priority.

Losing my job and struggling to find a new one was tough on my confidence and mental health. Then one day, a friend was getting rid of a beaten-up old table from her basement. Despite its worn look with old paint and grime, I saw potential in it. I decided to give it a makeover for another chance at life. I was hooked!

I believe that every piece of old furniture has a story, and I want to play a part in preserving those stories for many more years to come. When I touch a table, for example, I can sense its memories: joyful dinner parties, deep conversations, childhood adventures. Restoring each piece of furniture feels like restoring a part of myself that once felt unwanted. I've come to realize that I'm more than just a job title, and I wouldn't have learned this if I hadn't been laid off.
